Large clusters of fragrant, white flowers appear in spring and are followed by clusters of large, dark, purple to black berries in late summer to fall. Fruit can be harvested for making elderberry wine and jam, or left on the plant to provide seasonal forage for wildlife. Grow it as a shrub, or cut it back each year and use it as a bold perennial. Tons of appeal! Deciduous.

Site and Soil: moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Full sun.
Pollination Requirements: Self fertile. Bigger yield with 2+ varieties.

Bearing Age: 1-2 years
Size at Maturity: 8-10 ft in height, smaller with pruning.
Bloom Time: Late spring
Ripening Time: late July – September
Yield: 12-15 lbs. or more per plant
Pests & Diseasescankers, leaf spots, and powdery mildews. Pest resistant for the most part. Birds and deer are a more common issue.
