Bob Gordon Elderberry is a standout American variety known for its exceptionally large berries, heavy yields, and superior flavor. The deep purple-black berries grow in downward-hanging clusters, which helps protect them from birds and sun damage—resulting in cleaner, fuller harvests. The flavor is rich, dark, and slightly sweeter than other elderberries, making it an excellent choice for syrup, wine, jam, and medicinal preparations.

Bob Gordon blooms later than many other varieties, making it less susceptible to late frosts, and pairs well with other Sambucus canadensis types for cross-pollination. It’s a vigorous, cold-hardy plant that performs well in a wide range of climates.
